Day one on Hunter and Is journey, was more comical than you could imagine. (Or normal if you know us)
Planned departure 6:30 AM
Departed Reno 8:01 AM. (Kalli time lol)
Drove to Sacramento, California.
Flight was at 11:50 PM
Leave my Nanny’s house @ 10:40
15 minutes on the road, Hunter and I were going over everything we had. It was then we realize my Arbonne bags were left. (Yes it was a MUST turn around for) soooo we turn around, go back and as soon as I got back, they were not there. In a rush matter, I check the trunk. There they were. Myyy goodness!!!!!
Back on the road.
At this point, we are arriving at the airport. It was 11:02 AM.
My nanny drops off Hunter first. She is taking southwest & I’m on delta.
Hunter calls me— “the gal said that my bags won’t make my flight and will go to next one”
Oh no.
She call me one more time— “I cut people through TSA and ran to my plane. I made it & I’m taking off”
At this point, I was running to get in line at security. My travel bag strap broke. Man down. I now have a full hands of goodies & one plastic bag with my chargers. I have 2 water bottles. One kept dropping, turning more eyes to look at this hot mess. I looked extremely unprepared and a little lost. (which I was but that’s besides the point) I booked it through security (at TSA pace) looking like I had just ran a marathon. FULL of sweat & a bit smelly.
I made it to my gate and board my plane. Leaving 27 minutes later than Hunter.
Flight goes great. No complaints there! First class!
*upon arrival at the gate*
I call Hunter.
Her phone is still off.
Comical— Delta left later than SouthWest and beat them to the same destination. (the best airline... may or may not be bias #deltadaughter )
I get my bags and pray Hunters’ made it.
I head to her Terminal baggage claim, we wait... and wait... and wait... I go to talk to SouthWest & as soon as I step foot into their office, Hunters bag comes onto the carousel. IT MADE IT. YESSSSS.
Booked an Uber and off to Venice beach. With all of our bags!!!
Standing outside for our Uber, we are so lost because it said he was here & we were right on the same dot as him. Hunter calls, he tells us second floor & we will get charged if we take a while. OFF WE GO.
Booking it up the stairs we make it to our Uber. Late charge free :)
Our Uber, Mario brought us right to the door of our hostel. Samesun Backpacker Hostel. He told us tons about what to do & why he hates Venice LOL.
We check in. The room wasn’t ready but they hold our bags. We put our bags away and go to get food. Hunter wanted sweet potatoe fries, so we found some. Spending 75$ on a bill, we regretted that.
Why 75$?
My burger was 18$ & 2.50$ to add AVOCADO and 2.50$ to add BACON & 2.50$ for jalapeños. MY GOSH.
Sweet potatoe fries were 7$!!!!! Added up quick.. ( plus the servers already added 18% gratuity ) hahahaha Just PATHETIC. come onnnn.
Live and you learn am I right.
After eating we out our backpacks in our room. When we got up there, there was a guy from Canada & shortly after talking, our other dorm mate walked in. He was from Germany. Both had very interesting perspectives of LA and quite unique to hear.
Hunter and I decided to go ride scooters for sunset.
We grab an Uber scooter. We begin riding them, kinda. They were not working. We were getting frustrated & so we decided to find a new one. We do so, and go back on the path. It wasn’t working, AGAIN. Round 3...It wasn’t working. NOW real irritated. Fourth and final try, I look at the map on my phone as it’s not working & it tells me we’re in a no RIDE ZONE. Thank you to the off and on 5 $ for a ride that could have been PERFECT the first time butttttt... ya. :)
The sunset was stunning, the temperature was on point, and laughs were endless.
Bed came quick because alarm was coming quicker.
6 AM— out the door to check into our flight because of some total complications with Air China.
This was only the beginning. Here’s to being in a foreign country together, exploring the culture & expanding our horizons !
