Mondays are obviously the start to a week. For many this is THE WORST day of the week. Ask someone how they are doing on a Monday and they'll say " Oh, you know, it's Monday." There is a sitting negative connotation on Mondays. WHY?
Mondays suck ONLY because
You think they do
You are telling yourself that.
You are allowing yourself to believe that.
We base our thoughts and beliefs on life experiences. Sometimes others can take part in our beliefs and thoughts. Someone in your life has spread a belief that Mondays suck. Therefor relaying that to your belief. Saying there nothing good about Mondays and it's the hardest day of the week.
Let's change that mindset.
What have Mondays really done to you?
When you're thinking negative thoughts in your head, catch yourself. Stop right there. Allow yourself to breathe and clear your head of those thoughts.
Think of one thing you GET to do in your life, not HAVE to do.For example: You GET to wake up and live. You GET to have another day on this earth.
“When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive – to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love – then make that day count!“ – Steve Maraboli
Now let's make the day count.
I'm going to give you three tips to creating Mondays a GET to live, not a HAVE to live.
Step 1:
Make a list of things you're grateful for.
You're grateful for these things because you GET to have them in your life
We can easily look at this list throughout our week and stop the negative thoughts in our tracks. The list can change week to week, so make a routine to create a new one every Monday. This will help your belief in yourself, reflecting on thing YOU have in this life and you GET to have in this life of YOURS.
Step 2:
Make a list of all the things you want to get done, and group similar items together.
This technique is from Tony Robbins. He calls this “chunking”.
This list can be filled with work, social or personal things. Everyone is different so think about yourself.
After making your list, now group your similar items together. When we write our lists, we tend to just write down as they come to our head. Take an extra minute now and “chunk” similar items together. Allow yourself to get things done in “chunks”. The reason behind that is it’s much more difficult (and time-consuming) to toss between different kinds of tasks than to focus in one specific area and execute all the things that align with that same mindset.
Step 3:
Do one thing, as soon as you awake.
Set your tone for the day and week.
Look at your list you made. Find one thing on there to do right away. It can be small and simple. For example: Get up, call your cousin you've been longing to talk to. Get up, listen to a podcast you keep telling yourself you'll listen to. Get up, and post that blog you've been longing to post. Get up, make a protein shake.
There's nothing more satisfying than feeling like your already in the swing of things for your week.
Do something that will allow your subconscious to continue.
Monday is JUST a day. If you've felt hatred toward Mondays, it's time for a change. Change can happen immediately, but it starts within. Create a routine, look forward to something in the week, make a list of things you're grateful for & set your tone for the week.
I hope everyone challenges themselves every Monday to change their mindset. It starts with one person. Show up positive and it will radiate. Answer "How is your day going?" differently. Small adjustments WILL make the world of a difference.
Happy Monday friends! Cheers to the first week in June!!!!
